New Laptop, Out of the Playoffs, Old Friends

I just spent $1400 in one go. I'm not a person who's used to doing that. It feels...well weird. I didn't spend that much when I bought my sweet Marshall half-stack (which is currently sitting in my closet, but I'll get to that later...). Anwyays - New Laptop, 1 GB of additional RAM, and Microsoft Office (Student & Teacher since I was once a lab instructor, and I will soon be a student again...)

The goals of this computer: 1. Not overheating regularly, like my current box. 2. Being significantly faster than my current machine. 3. Have enough video memory to run Civilization 4. Require less peripherals to do what I want to do (Current: wireless card, external harddrive for mp3s, etc...)

And with the crush of an 0-2 Chad Cordero fastball, the Nats playoff hopes died today. The Nats have truly claimed a piece of the soul of the Red Sox - getting so very close, and then snapping defeat from the jaws of victory. But yet - I like this year's Washington team much better than last years. :) But all we need are servicable 4 & 5 starters, and one big bat (Nomar - I'm looking at you...) and we'll be in great shape next year.

I went out for a few drinks with my friends Wayne & Lizanna last night. They came up from Orlando. It was wonderful to see them (they've been friends for a very, very long time). An amusing story however. So last week on Wednesday, coming back on the Metro from the ballgame, there was a fairly cute girl sitting across from me who kept looking over. Thinking this might be another "Missed Metro Girl" opportunity, I kind of smiled at her - but I couldn't get a good read this time. We both got off at East Falls, but she made her way away, and that was that. We never said anything to each other. On Saturday at the hangout, Wayne & Lizanna friend Kevin was there with his wife Jeanne. Jeanne looked me and said, "It was you on the Metro!" I was taken aback - what did she mean. "I wasn't sure if that was you or not so I didn't want to say anything - but that was you on the Metro!" Glad I didn't hit on her.
