Death Cab for Sager, Photo of the Day, Prayer and Medicine

It has been an interesting day. Started off with the pour spout of my coffee maker's carafe falling into my coffee as I poured it. Not a great way to start the day. Work was quite busy with Saturday's FEC filing looming on the horizon. And of course, it was opening day which I was not present for. In fact due to a combination of seders and day games - I won't make it out to the opening series at all. And while Matt has assured me that I am "lame" for not going tomorrow night, I get to eat gefilte fish which is a consolation prize for me.

Anyhow, after work & class tonight, I went over to the Death Cab show at Constitution Hall. I had the ticket, but it was only a single. I debated back and forth on whether to just sell it and have a night of not doing anything, but ultimately I decided to just go ahead and go. Franz Ferdinand was alright - good set, very tight. They played very well off each other. As I observed the lighting design, I noticed a couple of combo Mole/Strobes with Scrollers. "Odd, that looks like Dan's thing from Queen's." Dan being a buddy of mine who is the lighting designer for Queens of the Stone Age. And low and behold, during the changeover as I chatted with the video guy, up walked Dan! I ended up watching the gig from Front of House, and hanging out with him for a bit after the show. We talked a lot about politics - it's always fun to talk with people who I know from the Production world and tell them what I'm doing now. After that, I proceeded home. And since the Metro stopped running, how did I get home?

Cab.

During a recent excursion to the Cherry Blossoms and East Potomac Park, I decided to snap a few pictures of the NGP Donkey (Lefty as he is known) around the Tidal Basin and in a Cherry Blossom tree.

Well, I tagged the photo in Flickr with the DCist tag, as I do with many of my DC pics.

Low and behold, Lefty is the DCist Photo of the Day

I continue to get e-mails from friends of mine saying "Nice DCist Cameo!" For a fleeting moment, I'm DC famous.

Dr. Metablog has a fantastic piece on the fallacy of Prayer Science. I highly recommend you check it out.
