Today I Am an Alter Kocker, TMBG at 930, The Good Seats Again, Darfur Rally

Last night, in the mail, I recieved my AARP membership card. Yes. THAT AARP. Now, I've been accused of being old before, but this is WAY beyond what even I was expecting. I sent them an e-mail asking to not contact me for another 35 years or so (adjusted for inflation, of course).

For old times sake, I went out and saw They Might Be Giants at the 9:30 Club. They were my first concert at age 13, and I went with my friend Jake Kamins. And with whom did I attend this TMBG show? Jake Kamins of course!

A fun show all around - I forgot how enjoyable these guys are to watch live. While I was there, I chatted with the house LD. I might be able to get an occasional fill-in gig - would be wonderful to get a bit back into lighting, but this time working only bands and not having to worry about it being my sole source of income. 9:30 pay would become simply beer tickets, or perhaps finance yet another guitar.
----------------------------
Once again, I got invited to the diamond box by my sister's father-in-law.

As Ball-Wonk has so graciously pointed out, much like Star Trek - the guy in the red shirt ALWAYS dies. While I love my interlocking DC hat (to the point that it's my phone's background), I'm beginning to think these alternate uniforms throw the red versus blue out of balance. This is Washington - we need bipartisanship, otherwise our team sinks!
----------------------------
The Save Darfur rally is this Sunday, starting around 1 on the mall near the Capitol. If there was ever a time to get off your ass and do something, this would be it. Save Darfur has all the details.
